Thelma Ruth Mitchell of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday August 16, 2026, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, at the age of 87 years.Thelma Ruth Mitchell was born on December 13, 1938, in Alva, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Chester and Ruby (Tucker) Stone. She grew up in Alva attending and graduating Alva Public Schools. During her school years she worked at a convenience store in Salt Plains and also the TG&Y in Alva. Following her education she married Vernon Mitchell on June 7, 1957, in Hawley, Oklahoma. They made their home in Blackwell and they owned & operated the Blackwell House of Carpet, Mitchell Vacuum Cleaners, and also owned rental houses. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church.She enjoyed quilting, reading, working puzzles, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildrenOn November 26, 2015, Vernon preceded her in death and she continued to make Blackwell her home.She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Buck Stone; four brothers-in-law, Mark Mitchell, John Mitchell, Bob Trammell, and Monty Jones; two sisters-in-law, Darlene Mitchell and Mary JonesThelma was survived by two daughters, Sharron Blubaugh and husband Ray of Oklahoma City, and Shirley Zimmerman and husband Stephen of Orange, Texas; one sister, Gladys Trammell of Greenville, Texas; one sister-in-law Jan Stone of Topeka, Kansas; five grandchildren, Corley Zimmerman, Stephanie Drake and husband Daryl, Angela Zimmerman, Mitch McNamara and wife Stephanie, and Sean Blubaugh; her great granchildren, Logan Zimmerman, Leah Drake, Teagan McNamara, Liam McNamara; a long with many nieces and nephews.A memorial has been established in Thelma's memory with the First Baptist Church in Blackwell, c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the First Baptist Church in Blackwell, Oklahoma with Mark Meador officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
