Sherry Nichols
March 14, 1947 – July 19, 2026

With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of Sherry Ann Nichols, who left this world on July 19th at the age of 79, peacefully at home surrounded by her closest loved ones. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.
Sherry lived a beautiful life filled with kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for those around her. She had a gentle spirit and a generous heart, always offering a smile, a helping hand, or a listening ear to those who needed her. Her presence brought comfort and joy, and she leaves behind countless memories that will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on March 14, 1947, in Ada, Oklahoma, to Gordon and Lela Maloy. Sherry grew up with her parents and brothers in the quiet town of Ada. She graduated high school from Hominy High School in 1965, then went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree from the university of OU. She had a 30+ year career with Conoco, becoming the first woman property tax agent. Sherry built a life centered around God,family, friendships, her career and the simple moments that brought her happiness. Throughout her life she had many hobbies; whether it was barrel racing, or watching the sun rise and set in Casa Grande, Arizona, and most importantly spending time with her family, and creating lasting memories with the people she loved most.
Sherry’s greatest gift was the love she gave so freely. She will be remembered for her compassion, strength, her quiet wisdom, and the way she made others feel valued and cared for. Her love and kindness will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
Sherry is survived by her loving husband, Mark K. Nichols of the home, Colbie Ann Branstetter of Ponca City, Shelbie Taylor Townley of Barnsdall, Jordan Lee Townley of Bowring; along with several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews . She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Lela Maloy, and her brothers, Larry and Keith Maloy.
A celebration of Sherry’s life will be held on Friday, July 24th, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Trout Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to come together to share memories, offer comfort, and honor the remarkable life of a woman who was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
Although our hearts are filled with sorrow, we find peace in knowing that the love Sherry shared will remain forever. Her legacy will continue through the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. May she rest in eternal peace.
