Mildred Bussing

July 23, 2026 – November 15, 1931

Mildred Bussing

She rented a room in Knoxville to go to High School. While in school, she worked in a diner to pay her expenses. After she graduated from Knoxville High School, she continued working as a waitress at the same diner where she met Wayne Bartlett. They were married in 1951. They had two daughters, Rebecca & Bonnie. In 1963, Wayne moved the family to Oklahoma City where she worked as a waitress & took in ironing. She later took classes to become a cashier & worked many years at Cresent Market in Nichols Hills. Wayne died in 1970 & she continued working to support her family.

In 1978, Mildred married Wilton Bussing & they had many happy years together. They liked to travel either in the US, enjoying road trips, or in other parts of the world. They honeymooned in Rome. Wilt developed Parkinson’s & Alzheimer’s and Mildred took care of him at home for several years before he died in 1995.

Mildred loved to share the Lord with people. She taught Sunday School for over 50 years & volunteered to help in the church when she could. Her later years of teaching, she taught the oldest ladies Sunday School class. Bonnie used to tease her that they were dying to get out of her class. Mom didn’t think it was very funny. Now Mom is worshiping the Lord in person. Praising her Savior forever.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, daughter Rebecca Price, brother Mark Flaugh (Esther Ann), sister Mary Wunn (Emory), & in-laws from both husbands. She was the last surviving relative of her generation.

Mildred is survived by daughter Bonnie Bolerjack (James), step-daughter Janet Hollingsworth, grandchildren: Dallas Chase (Erica), Lydia Cook (Tim), Elisabeth Shelton, & Jake Hollingsworth. Great Grandchildren: Chloe Shelton, Alyssa (Jeremiah) Eden, Caedmon Cook, Iain Cook & Everett Chase.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 30, 2026, in the Arlington Memory Gardens, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with James Bolerjack officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mildred’s honor may be made to New Life Trails, c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
