Kelly Lutes, 65, of Tonkawa, left this world peacefully on June 25, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Tonkawa, 505 Thunderbird Rd, Tonkawa, OK 74653.
He was born March 21, 1961 in Ponca City, OK to Harold and Margaret Lutes.
Kelly was a lifelong resident of Tonkawa and graduated with the Class of 1979. He excelled in Wrestling starting as a Pee Wee wrestler coached by Arthur Sweet & Bob Zweiachar. Later the Tonkawa Takedown Club was formed by parents & coaches until Tonkawa High School implemented wrestling into the school system his senior year.
Kelly and Jackie (Legg) Sartin were Tonkawa High Schools first Wrestling Royalty King and Queen.
Kelly was employed with Bill Strange Bit Service in Tonkawa for many years and Rodeo Meats in Arkansas City.
Kelly enjoyed coaching Pee Wee football, spending time on the river, fishing, noodling, cheering on the OU Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys, also taking Butch and Bart on daily runs through the country.
Kelly is survived by his wife of 34 years, Karen Lutes, His Daughter Elizabeth Crosby and Fiancé Brayden Walton.
Grandchildren: Hanna Rogers and Cameryn Crosby.
Great Granddaughter: Oakland Kelly
Additionally, Kelly leaves behind his chosen sons, Andrew Soucek, Jeremy Soucek, Darren Oxford, Josh Medina, and Derrick Humphries, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Kelly is also survived by his mother Margaret Lutes and sister Kim Evans and husband Kenny all of Blackwell.
3 nieces: Allison, Ashley & Kendra and 6 great nephews & nieces. Numerous cousins and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his dad Harold Lutes, maternal and paternal grandparents: Russell and Annabelle Lutes and Ben and Lorene Putt.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday July 3rd at 2:00 pm at Trout Funeral Home in Tonkawa with Pastor Sondra Ladd officiating.
