Jovita Socorro Snow passed peacefully on August 26, 2026, at the age of 96.
Jovita was born in Arkansas City, Kansas, to Conception and Porfirio Garcia, May 11, 1930.
In 1957, she married Lincoln Day and moved to Blackwell, where they raised their three children. They later moved to Grand Lake, Oklahoma. In 2007, she met and married Billy Snow in Tazewell, Tennessee. They then settled in Blackwell, Oklahoma, where she stayed until such time that she moved to Ponca City to live with her granddaughter, Katrina, until her passing.
Jovita loved her family and always tried to be there for them. She was a very independent woman, and very quick-witted. Jovita loved to quilt and embroider, she enjoyed canning, making jelly, and making tortillas with her daughters and granddaughters. She loved to dance, even at 96 years old. She still wanted to go dancing, so she could waltz or two-step. Jovita was well loved by anyone that got to know her. She was spunky and full of life, a joy for anyone to meet. To some of the grandkids, she was the “mean grandma”, but we loved her all the same.
Jovita was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters: Hurley, Tildy, Lucy, Jean, and Maria; three children: Kathryn McClaflin, Sonia Short, and Doy Day; two husbands: Lincoln Day and Billy Snow; one grandchild, Lorell Day; and one great-grandchild, Adam Cole.
She is survived by two sons-in-law: Jerry McClaflin of Braman, Oklahoma, and Brad Short of Blackwell, Oklahoma; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Day of Hannibal, Missouri; ten grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 1:00 PM, Wednesday, September 9, 2026, in the Roberts Memorial Chapel, Roberts and Son Funeral Home, Blackwell. Burial to follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Arkansas City, Kansas.
