James “Jim” Kreger

James “Jim” Dwight Kreger, born February 24, 1952, passed away on July 23, 2026, at the age of 74. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Christian Life Church in Tonkawa. Family and friends are invited to come together to share memories and honor Jim’s life. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Tonkawa, 505 Thunderbird Rd, Tonkawa, OK 74653.

Born on February 24, 1952, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, James was the son of Dwight and Nina (O’Mealey) Kreger. Jim was a talented builder and carpenter who loved working with his hands. He was always busy building, fixing, painting, or creating something. Among his most treasured creations were the pictures he painted of his great-grandchildren, the family’s dogs, and the family farm. His hands created many beautiful things, but the life and family he helped build will remain his greatest legacy.

Jim loved life, cherished his family, and was deeply devoted to his faith. He never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone he encountered feel welcome. He was generous with his time and was always willing to help, whether working on a project or making a trip to the grocery store or Walmart for Bea. His loving and helpful nature will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Bea Kreger; his step-daughters, whom he loved as his own, Lorrie Webster and her husband, Jeff, and Julie Higgins and her husband, Curtis; his grandchildren, Shane Mayse and his wife, Ann, Lindsey Matthiesen and her husband, Mitch, Rylee Webster, Bailey Higgins, and Connor Higgins; and his great-grandchildren, Aydan and Elouise Mayse, and Mea and Logan Matthiesen; his sister, Ruth Schuermann; and the family cat, Mr Wiggins. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Nina Kreger; his sister, Bernice Rainey; his brother, John Kreger; and the family pets Miley, Macy, and “Kitty.”

The family would like to thank the oncology team at the OU Medical Center and the Stephenson Cancer Center. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Ponca City Humane Society. 900 W Prospect Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.
