Irma Avila

Irma Avila was born on November 13, 1950, in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico. As a young girl her family moved to San Antonio, TX where she was raised alongside her 5 sisters and 1 brother.

Irma met her “Honey” Enrique in 1980 and together they created a beautiful life together filled with hard work, servant hood and a deep love for God. Irma had 4 children, Gabriel, Michael, Mark and Mercedes. As a family they moved to Ponca City in 1983 to start a little restaurant. After working with her husband and sisters to establish the business, she was able to stay home to raise her children.

Irma found so much joy in making memories with her sisters and all of their children. Whether celebrating a birthday, enjoying a camping trip, or floating down the river, Irma was happiest when she was surrounded by family. Irma had a true servant’s heart, she had a special way of welcoming new families to town. Ministering to the Hispanic community was something she held very dear to her heart, often providing a place to stay in her own home until they could find homes of their own. She often took young families under her wing. Working in God’s love, she guided them, prayed with them and helped them through challenges they faced. For many years she also gave back through missionary work. Her love was lived out in the way she cared for others. She opened her heart, her home, and her table freely, making people feel cared for and valued. Whether through a warm meal, a prayer, or simply her presence, Irma had a gift for making people feel like family. Her ministry reached far and became part of the lives of so many who were blessed to know her. She was loved and cherished by many and leaves a legacy of faith and family.

Irma was met heaven-side by pure love: her parents, Vicente and Enriqueta Bazaldua; her siblings, Jesse, Diane, and Lupe; and, most especially, her Honey, Enrique.

Irma Avila was survived by her son Gabriel and his wife Sherry, her son Mark and his wife Jessica, her son Michael and his partner Jarrod; her daughter Mercedes. Her beloved grandchildren, Jaylen and her husband Collin, Michael and his wife Katherine, Isaiah and his wife Sarah, Aaliyah, Ariah, Caleb, Selah and her partner Ty. Her cherished great grandchildren, Mia, Lily, Charlie, Masyn, & Elijah.
