Dawndy Stanton

Dawndy Jean Stanton, Iong time Ponca City resident, passed away after a courageous battle with Cancer surrounded by family at her home on July 1, 2026.

Dawndy was born in Ponca City Oklahoma on February 27, 1962. Dawndy was the oldest daughter to Don and Norene Stanton. Dawndy was the oldest sibling to Nevona Stanton Davison, Brad Stanton and Sean Stanton. Dawndy was the loving mother to Leramy Kizziar, Amanda Porter-Cain, Fabron Porter and Nevin Porter. As the oldest of four she served as the protector and defender of her siblings in their younger years, never shying away from stepping in and defending them from a school yard bully. In Dawndys' younger years she was a talented roller skater while working at the original Skate World teaching skating classes and competing in skating competitions. That passion for Roller Skating was passed down to her children as she was sure to teach them all how to Roller Skate as well. Dawndy was known for her amazing singing voice and as a little girl performed for an early morning television show for a local Tulsa news network. Dawndy attended Ponca City Public Schools while growing up. Dawndy attended Ponca City Beauty College and worked as a hair stylist in Ponca City for many years. In later years Dawndy worked as an in-home care giver assisting the elderly and loved providing care to her patients and making them comfortable. Those who knew Dawndy, knew she had a green thumb and marveled at her talents with plants. Dawndy enjoyed starting new plants and giving them as gifts to family and friends. Many of the plants she started over the years have been passed on to several generations and will last as a constant reminder and comfort to those who she loved. Dawndy was an amazing cook and loved to make many different types of food, but her favorite was any type of spicy Mexican inspired dish. The whole family always enjoyed eating whatever creation she brought to family get togethers, but the favorite of them all was her Chile Relleno's and salsa which has turned into a long-standing family tradition each Christmas. Dawndy loved her family dearly and enjoyed their presence in the last several months during her transition from this life to her heavenly eternity and expressed that her Family and Faith were the most important things that we should all hold onto dearly. Dawndy was a lifelong member of Faith Tabernacle Church under her Father's leadership. Dawndy assured anyone who asked, that she knew where she was going after her time on this earth and that she was not scared which is a great comfort to her family and close friends. Dawndy will be remembered by all those who knew her as a friend to anyone in need, a great Roller Skater, a lover of all things pigs, a fantastic cook, and a green thumb, just to name a few but to her family she will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and cousin.
