Coy Harmon

Coy Allen “Buddy” Harmon passed away Sunday, September 6, 2026 at his home with family at his side. He was born July 27, 1935 in Sparks, OK to Coy William Jesse Harmon and Jewel Miler.

He married Janet Hunt on April 9, 1957 in Tulsa, OK. He enlisted in the Navy in 1957 where he served most of his Navy Career on the USS Yorktown CVS-10. While in the Navy he was stationed in San Diego, CA and Bremerton, WA. He made many lifelong friends in the Navy.

He returned to Perry in 1961, where he went to Ditch Witch for the next 18 years. Coy then co-owned Blackjack Oilfield Service with his son Terry before retiring from the Oklahoma State Highway Department.

Coy was an active member of the Lucien Faith Church where he had been a youth leader in the past and served in many capacities. His family was his greatest joy. He loved attending anything his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren participated in and cheering them on from the stands.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Janet; his two sons Terry (Brenda) Harmon, Perry; Richard (Mellissa) Agee, Ponca City; two daughters, Dee (Joe) Steed, Owasso; Debbie Bolay, Perry; daughter of his heart, Dena Alford, Tulsa, OK; daughter-in-law Joyce Harmon, Lucien; sister-in-law Vicki Harmon, Orlando;17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy Harmon, Jewel Miler, and Ivan Miler; son Merle Harmon; granddaughter Sheila Harmon Anderson; Brothers - Donald Harmon and Leroy Harmon; sisters - Wanda Blankenship, Wilma Apperson, Dorothy Powell and Betty Keith.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the McGuire Cemetery, Lucien, OK with Lana Knott officiating. Memorials may be given to the Lions Club Boys Ranch, Perkins, OK or The Faith Church, Lucien, OK.
