Calvin Eldon Wolf

Calvin Eldon Wolf

Calvin E. Wolf, a long time Ponca City resident, passed away July 9th 2026. He was 97 years old.Calvin was born September 9th,1928, in Clayton, New Mexico to T.R. and Anna Pearl (Newlon) Wolf. He moved to Gateway Arkansas with his family; including his baby sister, Vivian, when he was 12 years old and graduated from Seligman Missouri High School in 1946. After graduation he joined the Army Airforce and was stationed in Manila, Philippines. He was discharged in 1947 and returned to Arkansas.He married Lucille Mathews in Garfield AR in 1948 and they had two children; Kenneth Lynn, and Brenda Carolyn.He graduated from Watchmakers School in Eureka Springs, AR in 1950 and moved his family to Ponca City, OK. He worked at various watchmaking jobs and also did repairs at his home. He went to work at Conoco Inc in 1973 in the Retail Credit Department and retired from this position in 1990. After retirement he worked part time for Grace Memorial Chapel until he was 80 years old.His hobbies included woodworking, go-cart racing, taking flying lessons for a short time, gardening, and traveling.Calvin married Betty Jean Schnitzer in 1976 and they enjoyed square dancing, singing in the choir of First Baptist Church, and traveling. They traveled to almost every state and enjoyed tracking those trips on a map they shared with everyone who visited them. They also traveled to Europe which was something he never imagined he would do in his life.Calvin married Elaine Silkey in 2001 and they traveled, went to the horse races and spent time with her family which was something he really enjoyed.Calvin was preceded in death by his wives, Betty and Elaine, his son Kenneth Lynn, and his parents.Calvin is survived by one daughter, Brenda Smith and her husband George, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, also his sister Vivian Mahurin and her husband Lyle, two nephews, one niece and several great nieces and nephews.He shared sports, family time, and a lot of love with his neighbors, Randy and Nancy Zimmerschied.He lived a full life and was able to enjoy as much of it as he could.Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 10:00am, at Grace Memorial Chapel in Ponca City, Oklahoma, followed by interment at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
