Every May, there is a rhythm to our schools that you can feel before you can explain. It's in the final walk down the hallways, the last bell that carries a little more weight, and the quiet pride that settles in as another school year comes to a close.
In Ponca City Public Schools, this time of year is both a celebration and a reflection. We celebrate the growth of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the steady support of a community that continues to show up for its schools. At the same time, we take a hard look at where we are and where we are headed.
That is where our strategic planning work comes into focus. Over the past several months, we have listened. We have gathered input from students, staff, parents, and community members who care deeply about the future of Ponca City. That work is now shaping the goals that will guide us forward. It is a commitment to action, to improvement, and to ensuring that every student who walks through our doors is prepared for what comes next.
Speaking of what comes next, I want to take a moment to recognize the Class of 2026. To our Wildcat graduates, you have reached a milestone that deserves to be celebrated. Whether your path leads you to college, the workforce, the military, or somewhere still being discovered, know that you carry the pride of Ponca City with you. We believe in you, and we are rooting for you.
This year, we also took a meaningful step in helping our seniors connect their education to real opportunities right here at home. Through our first-ever Senior Career Day, in partnership with our local economic development organization (PCDA), students spent a full day engaging with employers across Ponca City. They toured workplaces, heard directly from professionals about how to be successful, and learned what it takes to stand out. They sat at tables with adults from our community who walked them through mock interviews and gave them honest, practical feedback.
For some students, that day confirmed a plan they already had. For others, it opened doors they had not yet considered. And for those still on the fence, my hope is that it helped connect a few more dots before they cross the graduation stage in May.
As we close this chapter of the school year, I want to thank the people of Ponca City. Your support, your involvement, and your belief in our students make all the difference. Together, we are building something that will last well beyond any school year. Farewell Seniors!
