Five New Eagles Soar from Troop 556

Five New Eagles Soar from Troop 556

Scouting's highest honor is not easily earned. It takes years of dedication, hundreds of hours of service, countless nights under the stars, and a final proving ground. Only a small fraction of Scouts ever reach this summit.

Ponca City's Troop 556 has five new reasons to celebrate. Between December 2024 and December 2025, Johnathan Clement, Christopher Wynn, Ted Fusselman, Jason Devinney, and John-Paul "Makani" Coleman each earned the rank of Eagle Scout - together logging more than 1,200 service hours, 640 camping nights, and 800 hiking miles. Their Eagle projects left lasting marks across our community: a revitalized elementary school cafeteria, a flag retirement fire pit at the VFW, updated veteran grave maps at IOOF Cemetery, organized equipment for the PCHS band, and beautified grounds at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Ted Fusselman's veteran grave mapping was named the 101 District's Best Eagle Project of 2025.

Chartered by St. Paul's United Methodist Church and led by Scoutmaster Michael Wynn, Troop 556 meets Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at 1904 N. Pecan.

Johnathan Clement is the son of Anthony and Jessica Clement. His Eagle project revitalized the cafeteria at McCord Elementary School. He completed 26 merit badges, logged at least 312 service hours, 150 camping nights, and 120 hiking miles. After graduation, he intends to enlist in the Oklahoma National Guard.

Christopher Wynn is the son of Michael and Krista Wynn. His Eagle project built a fire pit for the VFW for respectfully retiring US flags. He completed 47 merit badges, 316 service hours, 179 camping nights, and 260 hiking miles. Long term, Christopher would like to open his own welding fabrication company.

Ted Fusselman is the son of Paul and Heather Fusselman. His Eagle project identified Veterans' Graves and updated maps at IOOF Cemetery, earning the 101 District's Best Eagle Project award for 2025. He completed 54 merit badges, 212 service hours, 119 camping nights, and 130 hiking miles. After graduation, Ted intends to study Criminal Justice at OSU.

Jason Devinney is the son of Jim and Suzanne Devinney. His Eagle project organized transport equipment for the PCHS Band percussion section. He completed 48 merit badges, 113 service hours, 107 camping nights, and 167 hiking miles. After graduation, Jason intends to study Construction Engineering Technology at OSU.

John-Paul (Makani) Coleman is the son of Johnathan Coleman and Bridgit Offer. His Eagle project built a raised flower bed and revitalized grounds at St Mary's Catholic Church. He completed 35 merit badges, 270 service hours, 86 camping nights, and 140 hiking miles. After graduation, Makani intends to study Biochemistry at the University of Notre Dame.
